K'taka CM Refutes Jaya's Charge on Cauvery Imbroglio

Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has termed as ‘false’ Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s allegations against the Karnataka government in connection with Cauvery water issue.

Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has termed as ‘false’ Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s allegations against the Karnataka government in connection with Cauvery water issue.

Two days ago when Jayalalithaa was touring Krishnagiri, she had alleged that both Congress and BJP are acting against the interest of Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery river water sharing issue.

Campaigning for Congress candidate from Krishnagiri Lok Sabha constituency, A Chellakumar, the Karnataka Chief Minister said the Congress government in Karnataka has been obeying the Supreme Court order and is releasing water to Tamil Nadu accordingly.

Both Jayalalithaa and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda failed to take any concrete steps in the Cauvery water issue and are now trying to hide their mistakes, Siddaramaiah said while addressing reporters here on Saturday at the state border Zoozuvadi near Hosur.

About Congress’ chances of coming to power after the Lok Sabha elections, he said, “There is no Modi wave in the country as claimed by the BJP. The Congress will form the government at the Centre again.”

The Karnataka Chief Minister also spoke at campaign meetings in Hosur, Denkanikotta and Thally in the district.

Siddaramaiah’s speech in Kannada was well received by the multilingual public in the district. He is the first leader in the current election season to have campaigned in Kannada in the border district of Krishnagiri, which has sizeable number of Kannada-speaking population.
