COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has decided to increase the financial assistance for students whose salary earning parent had either died or became permanently disabled from `50,000 to `75,000. The state government in 2005 announced that if an earning parent died or became permanently disabled, the student would be provided with a financial assistance of `50,000. All students from class I to XII in government and government aided schools would be eligible for this aid, which would be deposited in State-owned financial Institutions and the interest and maturity amount would be used for further educational expenses and maintenance.
