“I have failed five times during my educational career. Yet, I never panicked and gave up hope. Now I am a judge of the Madras High Court,’’ said Justice C S Karnan.

In an appeal to students who flunked the recent plus two boards, Justice Karnan advised them not to resort to the extreme step of committing suicide because of examination failures.

“Please trust me and believe that I, once a humble student and of mediocre means went through a difficult academic journey at a remote village in Tamil Nadu and as luck would have it, I failed in the VI and VIII standards, (then) PUC, BSc and finally in the BL examination. Being a poor student and from a large family, I faced many frustrations and poignant dilemmas, but in that period of time, I never panicked on all my travails, but simply hoped against hope and remained sustained.

I guess even God had become impatient with my condition, for ultimately, I graduated with flying colours and even got blessed with the most dignified position with the judiciary at the Madras High Court, most diligently performing as a High Court Judge.  “So in the present days I consider myself a star performer bringing relief and cheer to umpteen of my brothers and sisters in Tamil Nadu and perhaps throughout India by giving confidence and assuring them of their natural rights and aspirations,” he said.

The only mantra is persistence, patience and steadfastness for then ultimately God will relent.

“Consider life as the most precious and save it, for we don’t know what the final outcome will be.

A predetermination for extinction of life will only reduce human beings to the worthless, a more clear indication of such a belief is the fact that no animals, birds or insects will end their lives prematurely. It is my humble belief that every normal human can be an achiever,” Justice Karnan added.
