Out of Pondy, Solar Juice Stall Owner Returns to Villupuram

VILLUPURAM: Driven out of Puducherry for reasons best known to the authorities concerned, this small-scale businessman from Villupuram, who ran a solar-powered mobile juice stall in the Union Territory, has returned to his native.

Ramadoss, who started life as a taxi driver, decided to set up the juice stall three months ago.

He was hoping to create awareness among the people of Puducherry about solar-powered products and was running the stall since May 1 near Shivaji Statue in the Union Territory. But, the traffic police and NHAI officials asked him to vacate. With no choice, Ramadoss moved back to Villupuram. While the idea of the stall was his, it was realised by a private solar power firm, Phocos India Solar Pvt Ltd, which assisted him in setting up the solar panels. The cost of the solar-powered juice shop was around `1.75 lakh.  Ramadoss is hoping the Villupuram district administration would allot a place for him in government office canteen or any self-help group building.
