CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday commenced the distribution of appointment orders to 14,700 teachers who have been recruited through the Teachers Recruitment Board.
Seven such candidates received their appointment orders in person from the Chief Minister at the Secretariat.
During the past three years, the Jayalalithaa government recruited as many as 53,288 teachers. Now, the TRB has recruited 2,353 post graduate teachers, 10,698 graduate teachers and 1,649 secondary grade teachers. Of them, 822 are differently-abled.
Meanwhile, seven school children received ‘school diary with calendar’ from the Chief Minister who has been launching various welfare schemes for teachers and students across the State.
This was in effect to her recent announcement in the State Assembly that diaries would be given to students of Classes X, XI and XII in government and government-aided schools. The diaries would have details about working days and provisions for teachers to leave important notes, etc. This would be implemented at a cost of `8.10 crore.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated many new school buildings constructed in various districts.
The new school buildings were constructed at a total cost of `103.73 crore and the integrated English language lab was established at a cost of `25 lakh at Somarasampet Higher Secondary School in Tiruchy district.
