MADURAI: The judge of a judicial magistrate court appalled by the requsition of a medical officer for a dying declaration from a one-and-a-half-year-old girl child pulled him up and asked for an explanation.
According to police, Selvi Haritha, one-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Muthumurugan of Mukkudi in Sivaganga district was playing inside the kitchen while her mother was cooking on Friday morning. Haritha tried to grab the rice vessel placed on the stove and it fell on her causing severe burns. The parents immediately rushed the infant to the GRH after taking first aid at Thirupuvanam primary health centre.
When the baby was brought to the GRH, the casualty medical officer (CMO) checked and found that the girl had suffered 45 per cent burns.
As suggested by the police, the CMO issued a requisition for getting a dying declaration from Haritha since her condition was critical.
When judge of JM court V S N Dhanjayan was informed about the requisition by the police, he declined it and also wanted the CMO to meet him in person to explain it
