CHENNAI: Popular woman face of the DMK and Rajya Sabha Member Kanimozhi could not recollect the lessons learnt as a student at Ethiraj College. However, on Monday, she walked down the memory lane giving vivid details of her bunking classes and the fun she had.
“I remember jumping over broken walls to bunk college and one of my friends who was adept at whistling and used to be at her best when celebrity guests dropped in. It was a pleasant surprise to find her as a teacher in my son’s school,” she added.
Addressing students, teachers and alumni of the college at a function to mark the silver jubilee of the 1990 batch, she recalled the nostalgic moments and asked the students never to yield, no matter what, and that as women, they would face greater ordeals.
Her speech was well received with cheers by students and alumnae who were also treated with cultural programmes and games.
Among the other prominent alumnae of the college who made it to the celebrations were noted Bharatnatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam who thanked the college for giving her an opportunity to be a non-university student and the liberty to utilize free time for improving her dancing skills.
