CHENNAI: Describing her acquittal in the wealth case by the Karnataka High Court as a boon given by God to the intense prayers offered by the people of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Monday said that ‘the verdict gives me immense satisfaction and it has removed the slur cast on me out of political vendetta." She also vowed to work for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu forever.

Reacting to the verdict in the wealth case, Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said "The verdict has shown that I have not committed any wrong.  It has helped me emerge as pudam potta thangam (pure gold further refined by fire)."

Jayalalithaa further said she did not think that this verdict was her personal victory.  "Justice has been established and dharma has won.  Moreover, the verdict has also shown that conspiracies can win only for a temporary period.  But finally dharma and honesty will win."

"Justice has fallen asleep when conspiracy and destiny played their hands in the backdrop of the plot designed by the DMK men.  But today's verdict is trumpeting that Justice alone will win", the AIADMK supremo said.

Jayalalithaa said "our political opponents should stop their evil designs from today to eliminate the AIADMK, the great movement launched by MG Ramachandran."

She thanked the AIADMK cadre and the people of Tamil Nadu who had been offering prayers for her sake.  Stating that the death 233 party cadre who had ended their lives for her sake would continue to pain her forever, she said "had they remained calm, they would have also celebrated this victory along with the rest of the people of Tamil Nadu."
