TIRUCHY:  A 26-year-old woman reportedly found a cloth in her uterus after undergoing Caesarean procedure at a private hospital here recently. Her husband, a service personnel, took her to a defence hospital in Bengaluru and got the stuff removed. On Monday, he approached the Collector seeking action against the hospital.

In his complaint, Anand of Guntoor, a soldier in Assam 220 field regiment, said he admitted his wife Rajalakshmi (26) in the Child Jesus hospital in Othakadai after she developed labour pain on July 25 and she delivered a girl through Caesarean on July 30.  A week after discharge, she developed pain in the abdomen and started vomiting. Anand rushed her to the hospital and she underwent treatment as an in-patient. But her pain did not subside and her condition turned worse.

When he enquired with the hospital, Anand was told that it was usual pain and would wear off soon. But Rajalakshmi’s condition became serious following which Anand took her to another hospital where she was administered some medicines. But that too did not help her.

Subsequently, Anand took her to the defence hospital in Bengaluru last month where doctors diagnosed her with carrying a bundle of cloth in the uterus. She underwent a surgery and the cloth measuring 129 cm length and 11 cm width was found in the uterus. After the surgery, Rajalakshmi’s health improved and she was discharged  last week.

On Monday, Anand and Rajalakshmi urged the Collector to initiate action against the hospital. Attempts to reach Child Jesus hospital went futile.
