HOSUR: A 15-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train, apparently unable to bear with the pressure from his Tamil teacher. His body was found on a railway track near Kelamangalam in Hosur on Saturday morning.

According to Dharmapuri railway police, Ranjith Kumar (15), son of Sreenivasan (40)  of Unnukurukki near Kelamangalam in Hosur, was a Class X student.  Ranjith might have jumped before a train going from Dharmapuri to Bengaluru that passes via this route around 7 am. “We have filed a case under IPC 174 and are investigating, said a source from railway police.

The boy’s body was sent to the Government Hosur Hospital for an autopsy, after which it was handed over to his family.

His father Sreenivasan, in a complaint with the Railway police, alleged his son took the extreme step due to pressure from his teachers.

When contacted, Sreenivasan said, “We don’t know Tamil. Our mother tongue is Kannada. Ranjith was studying in a private school at Kelamangalam from primary classes onwards. His Tamil was poor and he committed suicide because of pressure from his Tamil teacher.”

“The teacher used to beat my son in front of others and scold him badly. My elder son, who was studying in the school till last year, told me about this. My elder son, who failed in Tamil in his board exam, is still attending tuition class under the same teacher,” said Sreenivasan.
