Rs 40L Welfare Aid to Adopted Vellore Villages

VELLORE:Welfare assistance  to the tune of Rs 40 lakh was disbursed to several beneficiaries in Thandalam village and Agaramcheri village at a function organised by the Saansad Adharsh Grama Yojana (SAGY) on Friday .

The two villages have been adopted by Arakonam and Vellore MPs respectively.

 Presiding over the mass contact programme conducted at Agaramcheri in Madhanur panchayat union in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency and Thandalam in Kaveripakkam panchayat union in Arakkonam Lok Sabha constituency under SAGY on Thursday, Collector Nandagopal said that the objectives of the scheme was holistic development of villages.

This includes promotion of healthy, hygienic practices, physical exercises, education for all, promotion of cleanliness, implementation of the child development services, MNREGA Scheme and implementation of Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD).

Other aims include nurturing of agriculture-based livelihood schemes, special entrepreneurial ventures for the educated rural youth, environment development.

Welfare assistance in the form of house pattas, farm inputs and implements, group houses and green houses, aid to differently-abled persons, revolving funds for women self-help groups together worth Rs 40 lakh were distributed to the beneficiaries in the two villages on the occasion.
