PUDUCHERRY: Stating that two students selected for first year MBBS through the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) are yet to enroll themselves in colleges, the Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association on Tuesday urged the CENTACauthorities to fill up these seats, as also a vacancy in the Dental college, through fresh counselling as was done in Tamil Nadu.
In a letter to CENTAC chairman, convenor and Puducherry Health secretary, association president Y Balasubramanian said two Most Backward Class students, Anadakumar and Amrithavarshnini, selected for first year MBBS admission at Aarupadaiveedu Medical College and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College respectively have not joined.
When Anandakumar, who was selected through counselling on September 29 went to remit the fees, the college management refused to admit him stating that the last date for payment had expired.
Similarly, Amrithavarshini, studying first year in NIT Karaikal has also not availed his MBBS seat.
Citing the special medical counselling conducted by the Tamil Nadu government on October 4 and 5, Balasubramian urged the CENTAC authorities to get permission for special counselling and help two Most Backward Class (MBC) students to fulfil their dreams of pursuing medicine and becoming doctors.
