Official sources said an evaluation meeting was organised in Madurai on Friday to evaluate the contents of the CDs. As many as 30 teachers from the district participated in the meet and gave their suggestions and opinions after watching the contents.
Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa would soon release the CDs, after which a copy of the CD would be distributed to all the government primary schools in the state.
Speaking to Express, a government school teacher and visual director for preparing the audio-visuals, M Amalan Jerome, said that with the ideas and initiative of Principal Secretary of School Education Department D Sabitha and Director of SCERT V C Rameswara Murugan, the CD containing the compilation of poetry has been prepared on the topic Thaienapaduvadhu Tamil.
“The audio-visuals for all the poetry has been made by composing music and depending on the concept of the poetry, the visuals have been shot at different locations. They have been prepared by involving the students and the teachers from government schools,” said Jerome.
The teachers who participated in the evaluation meeting said the CD would be very helpful to the students.
Headmaster of Panchayat Union Primary School at Kandukulam V Arasu told Express that poetry was taught in all schools in a similar fashion in almost all schools in the State. “Coming out with a CD for the poetry is a very innovative initiative. As the audio-visuals has music, the students would be easily able to remember the poetry as music is a good medium. While most of the students feel that poetry is difficult to remember, this initiative would make it easy for them,” explained Arasu.
Speaking to Express, assistant teacher S Ananthakrishnasamy from Panchayat Union Primary School at Vadakampatti in the district said the CD would ensure a happy learning environment. “This initiative will help the students to study poetry with full concentration. It will grab their attention,” he added.
