Fans were brought in to the conference hall to deal with  the sweat, where  counselling was held. Since it was suffocating, the officials had to make frantic calls to the  people concerned to repair the system. Later, electricians were called in and some cooling was given to the hall.
It may be noted that around 50 surgeries were cancelled  last month at the hospital as the air-conditioning system of the hospital failed last month.

Speaking to Express, an official of the hospital said the air-conditioning system was restored in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and operation theatres. “The conference hall was given last priority as it was used for conducting only functions. It will take at least another two weeks to restore  the system completely and the workers are working on it,” the official added.
The official further said that since the building had centralised air-conditioning system, breakdown of one part affected the others, and so it was taking long to repair the entire system.
The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) took suo moto cognisance of the issue last month and issued a notice to the Director of Medical Education calling for a detailed report within six weeks.
