Tamil Nadu Guv orders formation of committee to appoint Anna University VC

The posts had been lying vacant for more than a year. Duraisamy and Chellathurai were appointed for a period of three years from the date of assuming office.

CHENNAI:  Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao today ordered formation of a new search committee for the appointment of the next vice chancellor to Anna University here.

"The governor has ordered the constitution of a new search committee for recommending a panel of three names to him for appointing the next vice chancellor of Anna University following the decision to reject the panel submitted by the earlier committee," a Raj Bhavan release said.

"Former chief justice of India, R M Lodha has been nominated to the new search committee as the chancellor's nominee," it said.

In another Raj Bhavan release, Rao appointed P Duraisamy and P P Chellathurai as the Vice Chancellors of state-run Madras and Madurai Kamaraj universities, respectively. Rao is also the chancellor of the state-run universities.

The posts had been lying vacant for more than a year. Duraisamy and Chellathurai were appointed for a period of three years from the date of assuming office. The two received their appointment orders from Rao at the Raj Bhavan today, it added.
