VELLORE: Twenty-year-old S Kaveri and Ilavarasan had begun their married life with great hopes. The dreams shattered with Ilavarasan’s murder, leaving Kaveri staring at a bleak and uncertain future.
“On Sunday evening, he and a neighbhour (Rajini) had gone to Thenkani regarding setting up a poultry farm there. Half an hour later I was informed that he was dead,” said a teary eyed Kaveri. A native of Madhanur, Kaveri studied up to Class 12. Her parents are labourers at a leather company in Ambur. Kaveri met Ilavarasan while she was also working there and the two married 11 months ago. Though initially, her caste Hindu parents hesitated to accept the relationship, they changed their mind after seeing Ilavarasan’s behaviour.

The couple saved money to set up a poultry farm in their own land in Thenkanimalai while living in a small house in K M Kuppam. “We used to go to work and return together. He is not a meddling person. Now I do not know how am I going to manage life without him,” she pondered.
Kaveri is currently under the care of her mother, who is down with ill health. All that she has is a cheque for `4,12,500 handed over to her by the district administration as compensation for Illavarasan’s death.
