Nagapattinam bus depot building collapse: TN government announces Rs 7.5 lakh compensation for next of kin of deceased

Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami today announced compensation of Rs 7.5 lakh for next of kin of the deceased in the bus depot roof collapse in Nagapattinam.

CM also announced government job for any one member of the families of the deceased.

Sleeping staffers were killed when the roof of a pre-Independence room of a bus depot collapsed on them in the early hours of Friday. The tragic incident took place in Porayar, a small town in Nagapattinam district.

The CM announced compensation of Rs1.5 lakh for people with severe injuries and Rs 50,000 for people with mild injuries.

The casualties were bus drivers and conductors who had finished their trips late Thursday night and were resting inside the bus depot, a pre-Independence building built in 1943.
