CHENNAI: School Education Minister and AIADMK organising secretary KA Sengottaiyan on Thursday lashed out at former Union Minister A Raja for demanding a white paper on the tenders awarded by the Tamil Nadu Highways department for various works.  He said the people of Tamil Nadu did not forget the involvement of Raja in the 2G scam and that the appeal petition filed by the CBI against the verdict in the 2G case was pending disposal.

In a statement here, Sengottaiyan said the tenders for the Highways department were being processed online and as such, there was no chance of irregularities in awarding works.  For the first time in the country, the online tender process was being implemented in Tamil Nadu to avoid any irregularity.

The minister also pointed out that tenders were being finalised by the committees comprising senior officials and the files relating to them never went to the ministers. While ordering a CBI investigation into this issue, the High Court did not say there was any irregularity, he said.
