CHENNAI:  BJP state president K Annamalai on Wednesday submitted DMK Files II, levelling graft allegations against the DMK functionaries, and a white paper on the closure of Tasmac shops in a gradual manner and how to tackle the loss of revenue due to the closure by adopting alternative measures to Governor RN Ravi. However, Annamalai did not make the documents public to substantiate his claims and said he had submitted the documents to the governor for taking action.

Annamalai and senior leaders of the party handed over the ‘documents’ relating to the allegations against the DMK functionaries in a huge box. Reacting to the DMK Files II, DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi said the allegations made by Annamalai are not clear and specific.  Bharathi said Annamalai has made certain allegations just to divert attention from the atrocities against women in Manipur.

Regarding his meeting with the governor, Annamalai said: “We presented a memorandum seeking his excellency’s intervention and suitable action concerning the DMK Files II with documents on benames connected to the DMK ministers/MLAs/MPs and the first family and three scams amounting to Rs 5,600 crore.”

Annamalai also said the Rs 5,600 crore scams include - Rs 3,000 crore scam in ETL Infrastructure Services Limited; Rs 2,000 crore scam in the transport department and Rs 600 crore scam in Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation. “We will elaborate more on this during our padayatra. We demand answers from the corrupt DMK government,” he added.

The BJP chief said Chief Minister MK Stalin has become a mute spectator to the ill effects of alcoholism in the state and hence the BJP has submitted a well-researched white paper on Tasmac-free Tamil Nadu to the governor. BJP state vice president Karu Nagarajan, who accompanied Annamalai, told reporters that the white paper was submitted to the governor since the chief minister’s office did not give an appointment to meet Stalin in this regard though the request was made a few weeks ago.

Nagarajan said the white paper explained how to reduce the number of Tasmac shops by 75% within a few years, and how to make up for the loss of revenue due to this by bringing minerals under government control, developing the electronics industry in the state, etc.  The white paper also gives details about the IMFL sold in other states, and how the traditional varieties of liquor are allowed except in Tamil Nadu.

At DMK headquarters, DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi said, “One should level specific charges.  We too have made charges against J Jayalalithaa and proved them in the court. Let Annamalai send his allegations to the government and his party’s MLAs raise them in the Assembly.  Our Chief Minister MK Stalin will respond to their charges point by point,” Bharathi added.
