Governor’s gift: Raj Bhavan opens VIP guest house to Class 12 topper’s family in TN

CHENNAI:  Perhaps for the first time, the guest house, meant for VIPs like the president and the prime minister in the Raj Bhavan, was opened for a commoner. On Wednesday, the governor’s special guests were the family of Shafreen Imana, a topper in the class 12 examination. 

Sources said the guest house was opened for the family of the student following directions from Governor RN Ravi. Imana is the daughter of a daily wage labourer from Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district, and she scored 590 out of 600 in the Plus Two examination, the third highest in the state. The girl, who studied in Tamil medium, was invited for an interaction with the governor. 

Imana apart, the governor also had interactions with the other class 12 board exam toppers. He felicitated them, shared valuable insights, and wished them a bright future. Talking to them, the governor said besides hard work, the focus is also important for getting the full, desired result in any venture. Ravi asked about the future aspirations of each topper.

“Now you are in the next phase in your education. students. This is just the beginning of a long journey in your life. Whatever stream of education you want to pursue, aim to be the best in your selective field. For achieving any success in life, you have to pay some price - a price in terms of reducing time being spent on the digital world - mobiles, etc because they have a lot of distractions,” the governor told the students.
