98.52 per cent TN students clear CBSE Class 12

CHENNAI:  Chennai region registered 99.14% and 97.40% pass in the Class 10 and Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exam results declared on Friday. The region, which includes Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, came third behind Trivandrum and Bengaluru regions. 

In Tamil Nadu, 62,597 students cleared Class 12. A total of 63,692 students had registered for the exam and 63,538 wrote it. The pass percentage was 98.52%, and 99.04% girls and 98.09% boys have cleared the exam. In Class 10, 86,943 students had registered and 86,745 appeared for the exam. Of this, 86,507 had cleared it with a pass percentage of 99.73%. About 99.64% boys and 99.83% girls had aced the test. 

While the board will not award first, second or third division to students, it will issue merit certificates to 0.1% of students who have scored high marks. As per NEP 2020, the board has also changed the nomenclature of compartment examination to supplementary examination. Supplementary exam for Class 10 and Class 12 will be held in July. The board has also decided to conduct the 2024 examination from February 15, 2024, said a release.
