COIMBATORE: In a move to end speculation about his position, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Friday declared that he is not in the race to be the next BJP state president.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore Airport on Friday, Annamalai said he would continue to work for the party as a cadre and there is no compromise against corruption.
On the reported view that the AIADMK leadership was for easing him out of office of state unit president to forge an alliance with the BJP for the 2026 Assembly election, Annamalai said he was not inclined to make any comment.
‘Waqf bill will benefit poor Muslims’
Annamalai said that his efforts to form a good government in TN will continue. Asked on the reason for not being part of the race for the post of president, Annamalai said the state unit president is unanimously elected and there is no contest or competition for the top post in BJP.
In response to the question about whether he would get any role as a central minister, Annamalai said he would not leave TN land.
Annamalai said the NEET drama staged by the DMK has come to an end officially as the bill against NEET passed by the TN government has been rejected by the President. He challenged Chief Minister MK Stalin to take the issue to Supreme Court.
Annamalai said the TN BJP welcomed the Waqf Amendment Bill passed in the Parliament as it would benefit poor Muslims.
