He also added that the ‘Conversion Conclave’, announced earlier, would be held on February 12. The conclave, which is a first-of-its-kind initiative to showcase investments, would also feature several key announcements. Sources said the cabinet also approved proposals relating to the interim Budget for the 2026-27 financial year. The interim Budget, ahead of the Assembly elections, is expected to be presented in the second week of this month.
Among the key projects cleared on Thursday is that of Kaynes Circuits India Private Limited, an electronics manufacturing company producing printed circuit boards, camera modules, and laminates, marking a significant step in advanced manufacturing in Tamil Nadu. “Johnson Electric Private Limited, which manufactures actuators, BLDC motors and power cooling motors, is another major project. Evervan-Kothari Footwear Private Limited is expected to generate employment for nearly 25,000 people. In addition, we are bringing Adidas brand footwear manufacturing to Tamil Nadu,” Rajaa said.
Chennai Radha Engineering’s investment in ship hull manufacturing was described as highly significant. The cabinet also cleared projects by Jeanuvs Group (Aerospace and Defence Systems) involving the manufacture of radars, radar systems, artillery shells and missile sub-systems. Yazaki India Private Limited, engaged in automotive components and wiring harnesses, is also part of the approved investments. Further, expansion proposals of Hyundai Wia India Limited, which manufactures CVJ modules, thermal management modules and drive shaft assemblies, have been cleared. ZetSol Energy Private Limited, a solar cell manufacturer, has proposed a unit in Thoothukudi.
Rajaa said the Tata Motors Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) plant at Ranipet would be launched on February 9, with Chief Minister M K Stalin and Tata Motors/JLR CEO N Chandrasekaran jointly inaugurating the facility.
Recalling scepticism over earlier announcements, Rajaa said doubts had been raised about VinFast as well, but the project had progressed swiftly, from foundation stone to trial production, and the company had since emerged as the fourth highest-selling EV car brand in India, with vehicles manufactured in Tamil Nadu.
