Women-led development will increase nation’s GDP, says Puri
COIMBATORE: “Women-led development will increase the nation’s GDP and the central government is working for that,” said Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri at the ‘Professionals Connect’ event organised by Tamil Nadu Dialogues 2026 and Tamil Nadu BJP Professional Cell in Coimbatore on Saturday.
Puri, who spoke on ‘Rising Bharat’, explained how the central government is progressing from women-centred development to women-led development.
“Women-led development is expected to increase GDP by 2-3%. We had 14 crore gas connections across the country in 2014. By January 2026, this number increased to 33.33 crore, achieving saturation in gas connections, and 75% of households now have it. Providing clean, affordable cooking fuel is a crucial aspect of the nation’s development,” he said.
BJP’s national working president Nitin Nabin said the central government has a corruption-free administration, but in Tamil Nadu, both DMK and Congress are deeply immersed in corruption. “The ruling DMK must be removed from power as they are insulting Sanatana Dharma that we respect,” he said.
