HYDERABAD: Total standstill is what one could expect across Telangana on Tuesday while volunteers and enumerators will be busy gathering information from citizens.

Following APSRTC which will not ply buses, cabs and other services too have decided not to operate.

“Dear customer, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to offer our services tomorrow owing to Telangana survey. We shall resume our services from midnight of August 19.” This type of messages were sent to customers on Monday evening.

Such messages have caused widespread panic among people who depend on cab services. “I have to go to the airport early on Tuesday morning to pick up my sister who is arriving by a Delhi flight. Since no airport cab service is operational, I am forced to drive to Shamshabad,” said Janardhan Das, a private employee.

Gowri Shankar added: “I usually take a cab to go to my home town Nalgonda. Night shifts do not allow me to opt for private or public bus service. So, cabs are the only option I am left with. I am working on Monday. Now, with cab services cancelling their services on Tuesday, I am wondering how to go about it.”

However, a few seem to have made alternative arrangements. “Of course, we are closed, but we usually function from our homes too. For our regular customers, to book an air ticket tomorrow will not be a problem since we have our backup plans,” said Bhanu, an air ticket operator based in SR Nagar.

Vijay Mohan Raj of Sameera Travels too echoed similar views. He said, “We have technology for emergency situations. Our staff are equipped to work from outside office. It should not be a problem planning a tour tomorrow.”
