NALGONDA: Elder son of TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna, Nandamuri Janakiram, was killed in a road accident at Akupamula village of Munagala mandal in Nalgonda district on National Highway-65 on Saturday.

According to district SP T Prabhakar Rao,  Janakiram  was on his way to Kakinada via Vijayawada from Hyderabad. He was behind the wheels of his Tata Safari vehicle (AP 29 BD 2323). As he reached Akupamula, a tractor emerged in the opposite direction. With the Safari at top speed, Janakiram hit the tractor and in the process, lost control of the vehicle.

The Safari overturned and landed in a burrow, about 100 metres away from the road. Locals rushed to Janakiram’s rescue and shifted him to a private hospital in Kodad but the 41-year-old died on the way to the hospital as he suffered serious head injuries.

Janakiram Was Driving at Top Speed Sans Belt

The Tata Safari vehicle driven by Harikrishna’s son Janakiram was in top speed when it met with the mishap on Saturday. According to villagers, the vehicle could not be controlled when the tractor suddenly came on to the road in the opposite direction. “Though Janakiram applied sudden brakes, he lost control,” eye-witnesses told the police. It is learnt that Janakiram was not wearing the seat belt. The body was later shifted to Osmania hospital for post-moterm. Janakiram completed his graduation from Loyola College in Vijayawada after which he pursued higher studies in the US. He married Deepika, Kakinada-based businessman’s daughter and the couple have two children.

Janakiram produced two films earlier and was into other businesses. A few years ago, actor NTR Junior had a narrow escape in Nalgonda after his vehicle overturned and hit a tree.

A case has been registered against the tractor driver at Munagala police station.
