HYDERABAD: Senior journalist and former editor of ‘Namasthe Telangana’ Telugu daily Allam Narayana will be the first chairman of the Telangana Press Academy. The state government on Thursday constituted Telangana Press Academy and nominated Allam Narayana as its chairman.
The orders issued by Information Commissioner RV Chandravadan stated that consequent to the formation of Telangana state there is a need for establishing a Telangana State Press Academy. The Academy was constituted with a noble objective of promoting highest standards and ethics in journalism. The term of the chairman and members of the academy will be two years. The chairman will hold the rank equivalent to a Cabinet minister for the protocol and courtesies.
I&PR commissioner will provide necessary infrastructure and support as available with the existing Andhra Pradesh Press academy for establishing the Telangana State Press Academy. The Secretary, Press academy, shall discharge his duties to the above members as mandated and warranted.
The chairman and committee shall take expeditious steps for operationalising the Telangana State Press Academy within two months.
The Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Press Academy, will provide the required infrastructure and facilities for functioning of the above Chairman and committee with immediate effect.
