A Visit to Uncle’s House Cost Him His Life

Fourteen-year-old Neerudi Vamshi was the most unfortunate to board the school bus of Kakatiya

MEDAK: Fourteen-year-old Neerudi Vamshi was the most unfortunate to board the school bus of Kakatiya Techno School which met with the tragic train accident at Masaipet on Thursday. He never had to take the bus to school as he lived right next to his school at Toopran with his parents.

Vamshi, a Seventh Standard student, was returning to the school from his uncle’s home at Islampur on the day of the accident. His friends said that he would have survived if he had not visited his uncle’s house or had he taken some other vehicle to the school. His only mistake was to board on the school bus .

Vamshi’s father Neerudi Sudarshan, the MPTC of Islampur village, moved to Toopran only for the studies of his son. Sudarshan’s brother who has no children, loves Vamshi so much that he treats him like his own son. Vamshi often visits his uncle’s home at Islampur. He would directly go to the school from Islampur in the school bus whenever he stayed back at his uncle’s place.

Usually, the school bus starts its journey from Islampur picking up students and goes to Masaipet to take more students before returning to the school at Toopran. As usual during his visits to his uncle’s home, Vamshi boarded the bus at Islampur on Thursday and was moved down by train along with 15 others when the bus was crossing the railway track at Masaipet.

G. Sumanth, his best friend, said Vamshi was very much interested in science and sports. Shocked by  death of his buddy, he struggled to recollect moments he spent with Vamshi. They danced together at his home on the day before Vamshi left for Islampur. Looking at  the crowd that gathered near the locked house of his friend, he said, “Vamshi spent more time at my home than at his.”  They always sat together in the classroom. Now he misses the company of his friend.  When asked if he still wanted to go to the same school, he said “Yes.” “I know that my friend will not return. But I must continue my studies.” he added. Sumanth regrets that he could not have a last glimpse of his friend.
