Worried Parents Want School Reopened

MEDAK: Worried parents of the students of Kakatiya Techno School, Toopran are terrified at the future of their children as reports came in that district education officials are going to shut down the school for their negligence which claimed the lives of 16 people in the train accident. A group of parents who gathered at the school on Firday demanded that the school be reopened at the earliest.

Now the parents are in a big dilemma as the school was closed right after the accident. So far there has been no communication from the management about resuming classes. School director Jitendar Reddy has not been accessible ever since the accident took place.

Parents said that moving their children to other school at this stage will cost them a lot extra in terms of money and time. Giriraj, a government teacher from Donti village has two of his children studying at Kakatiya School. He said, “We have already paid the annual fees. If the school is shut down, there is no way for us. We can’t afford to pay the fees again at another school. Moreover, admissions are already over in all other schools.”

Kakatiya Techno School, which offers education from Nursery to Tenth Standard, seems to have good reputation. Bhargavi, the mother of a student from Toopran, said, “This school offers good study at reasonable fees. Our children are doing well. We have never had any complaint before.” She is now worried that she can’t find another school for her children near her home for such affordable fees. A group of parents who gathered at the school on Friday shouted slogans, ‘We want school’ while the police tried to chase them away. Police are keeping a vigil at the school after the accident. The parents said that they won’t mind if the school is closed for a few days.
