HYDERABAD: The qualifying percentage for the OUCET is 70.76 percent, which has reduced compared to last year’s 76.55 per cent. For the first time in its history, OUCET was conducted as an online examination at 21 test centres for the coming batches.
“With close to 67,000 students giving the test, it is indeed successful. The ratio of number of students applied to number of seats for different courses is quite satisfactory. However there is an extensive demand for courses like Urdu, M.Com and Masters of Social Work, where the number of students applied is a lot more than the number of seats available,” said Vice Chancellor S Satyanarayana, who released the results on Tuesday.
“Considering this demand, we only hope that the government brings out more colleges to accommodate students for the particular courses,” he added.
Applications were called for 52 courses consisting of 39 post graduate courses, 10 PG Diploma courses and 3 integrated courses. The notification for the exam and application was released on April 8 and the exams were held from June 6 at 21 test centres.
“The number of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students who have applied is more than the number of students from the general category. This shows that the education is slowly reaching the rural areas which is indeed a positive sign,” Satyanarayana said.
