Rains to Lash TS, AP for a Couple of Days

HYDERABAD: Monsoon has been active, probably for one last time this year, over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, on Sunday, said the well-marked low pressure area now lies over Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh. Rain occurred at most places over Telangana, many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Rayalaseema.

For Monday and Tuesday, officials have predicted moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at most places over Telangana and many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur at a few places over Rayalaseema.

Scattered heavy to very heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy rain or thundershowers would occur in Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Rangareddy districts in Telangana on Monday.

Isolated heavy rain would occur in Visakhapatnam, East Godaari, West Godavari and Krishna districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. However, from Tuesday, the rains are expected to ease.

On Saturday, Palakonda (Srikakulam dist) and Komarada (Vizianagaram dist) recorded a maximum of 9 cm rain, followed by Komarada (Arg) (Vizianagaram dist) with 8 cm, and Parvatipuram (Vizianagaram dist), Jiyyamma Valasa (Vizianagaram dist) and Mandasa (Srikakulam dist) with 7 cm each.

In Rayalaseema, a maximum of 5 cm was recorded at Allagadda (Kurnool dist), followed by Proddatur (Cuddapah dist) with 4 cm.

In Telangana, Sirpur (T) (Adilabad ) recorded 23 cm, followed by Manthani (Karimnagar dist) 19 cm and Mancherial (Adilabad dist) 16 cm. Ramgundam (Karimnagar dist) recorded 15 cm, and Chennur (Adilabad dist), Kaleswaram (Karimnagar dist), Asifabad (Arg) (Adilabad dist) and Asifabad (Adilabad dist) 13 cm each. Golkonda area in Hyderabad recorded 10 cm rain.

All major reservoirs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana continue to brim with water. They continued to receive heavy inflows on Sunday.

Mock Drill on TSUNAMI

Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) is conducting a mock drill on Tsunami warnings on September 9-10. During the drill, Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre will generate 15 tsunami notifications to both its national and regional contacts through GTS email fax, SMS and web.
