HYDERABAD: For the first time, all the Opposition parties and activists have come together to oppose the cheap liquor policy to be rolled out in Telangana. Leaders of Congress, BJP, TDP, CPI, YSRCP and MBT among others met in Hyderabad on Saturday and launched ‘Telangana Anti-Cheap Liquor Movement’.
“The government is revolving around one person and one family in Telangana. KCR is autocratically taking decisions without consulting anyone. Even for introducing cheap liquor, which will harm public health, the CM did not call for an all-party meet,” said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
“This government does not listen to requests and representations, and revolt against it is the only way. All parties and activists have come together to fight against KCR’s decision to introduce cheap liquor,” said Uttam Kumar.
“Instead of taking steps for supply of drinking water to homes, KCR is taking steps to quench the thirst of people by supplying them cheap liquor. It is unfortunate that the Government is focusing on earning revenue at the cost of public health,” stated BJP leader K Laxman. TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao warned that if KCR did not relent on cheap liquor, then the Anti Cheap Liquor Movement will be started from KCR’s Gajwel constituency.
