HYDERABAD: Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have requested the Centre to allow them to retain some All India Services officers contrary to the recent division of AIS officers made by the Department of Personnel and Training.
Telangana wants the Centre to let it retain four IAS officers — Ronald Ross, Somesh Kumar, Poonam Malakondaiah and Jayesh Ranjan — all of whom have been allocated to the AP cadre. The four are currently working for the Telangana State government. The Telangana government has written a letter to the Central government to this effect. The Andhra Pradesh government, on its part, made a similar request to the Centre to allow it to retain five IAS officers — Ajay Jain, Ajay Sahani, RV Kannan and Siddharth Jain — and one IPS officer, AR Anuradha. All of them have been allocated to the TS cadre and are currently working for the AP government.
If the DoPT does not oblige the request of both the State governments and change the cadre of these officers in the final allocation list to be published in February, the States may seek “deputation route” to retain the officers.
For working on deputation in any other state, the officers concerned should make a request. The State government to which the officer belongs and the State to which the officer wants to go should accept the same. Then alone can the Centre take a call.
