HYDERABAD: The name of the full meals programme for pregnant and lactating women has been changed from Indiramma Amrutha Hastham to Aarogya Laxmi in Telangana.
The State government issued orders to this effect on Monday. The orders stated that the change in name was due to change in feeding norms in ICDS projects. The government recently enhanced the quantity of eggs to be supplied to pregnant and lactating mothers. Accordingly, the scheme by which the government is providing nutritious food to lactating mothers, pregnant women and children from January 1 had been named as Aarogya Laxmi.
Meanwhile, the State government is also contemplating changing the name of weaker sections housing programme from Indiramma Gruhalu. The State government will come out with a new name for the housing programme, which would be launched in February, sources said.
