HYDERABAD: Veteran actor and comedian MS Narayana passed away due to multi-organ failure at a private hospital here Friday. Narayana, who acted in over 700 films, is survived by his daughter Sasikaran and son Vikram. He was 63.

A recipient of five Nandi awards, the writer-cum-actor was born in Nidamarru village near Bhimavaram in West Godavari district on April 16, 1951. Known for his wit and comic timing, Mylavarapu Suryanarayana had been an indispensable part of Tollywood ever since his debut in the early 1990s. Initially diagnosed of malaria at a hospital in Bhimavaram, he was brought to a corporate hospital in the city a few days ago. He breathed his last at 9:40 a.m.

“The last rites will take place on Saturday at his farmhouse in Vikarabad,” his son Vikram said. His daughter told reporters, “We thought it was only malaria and he would be cured. We did not expect that he would be taken away from us like this.” In a career spanning about three decades, Narayana made a name for himself  with spoofs on stars like Rajinikanth, Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan. The film fraternity condoled the death of Narayana. AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in his condolence message, termed his death an immeasurable loss to the Telugu film industry. “MS Narayana made us laugh and touched every element of human spirit. His relentless energy was thrilling,” he said. TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
