80 Per Cent Blood Banks Found Violating Rules

HYDERABAD: As many as 109 blood banks out of the 135 in the state were found to be violating rules in the inspections conducted by the Drug Control Administration (DCA).

 DCA director Akun Sabharwal said that notices would be issued to these blood banks. The blood banks will be given seven working days to respond and if the DCA is not satisfied by their action, their licence will be suspended and such blood banks will be shut down, he added.

During the inspection, the DCA found violations like inadequate number of doctors and technical staff, incorrect record of donations and sale and improper maintenance of various statutory records.
