WARANGAL: BJP general secretary P Muralidhar Rao has alleged that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members have been portraying themselves as the lone crusaders of separate Telangana movement.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Muralidhar Rao, who was here to campaign for the party MLC candidate for Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam graduates constituency, urged the voters to put a check to KCR’s unilateral decisions by electing BJP MLC candidate Errabelli Rammohan Rao.
“Telangana state was formed after a prolonged struggle in which many youths have sacrificed their lives. BJP has also played a vital role in this struggle. But KCR and his family are behaving like as if there were the only people who fought for Telangana state,” he said and reminded that his party leader Sushma Swaraj and MPs have also raised the issue in Parliament.
Muralidhar Rao stressed the need for a strong opposition in both Assembly and Council to put a check on the government and urged the voters to grab this opportunity and send the BJP candidate to the Council.
He also promised that they would bring more central funds for development of Telangana. “Our government at the Centre is committed for development of Telangana state,” he added. Union minister Nirmala Sitaraman would campaign in Hanamkonda on Sunday.
