HYDERABAD: The state government has constituted three thrust teams and opened region/country-wise desks to tap investments to the state. As per the recent decision of the state Cabinet, industries secretary Arvind Kumar issued orders constituting the thrust teams and region/country-wise desks on Thursday.
An official delegation from Telangana led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao visited China from September 9 to 15 during which it met a large number of business delegations and industry bodies as well as individual companies. A strong interest by these companies to invest in India was noticed.
It was also felt that a similar potential exists in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan in East Asia, Canada, Mexico and countries such as France and Germany in the West and Israel, the Gulf in the middle East and within India itself, the orders stated.
‘’There are investment opportunities in the following regions, based on their outbound investment potential as realised during the recent visit and proposed to set up institutional mechanism to tap the investments in Telangana,” the orders said.
The functions of the Thrust Teams of officers of Overseas Regional Country Desks of Telangana will be to interact with local business organisations and other such manufacturing associations and find out sectors/companies who are looking outward. The officers will contact these companies and explain about Telangana and its industrial policy and how to apply, they will facilitate visit of these companies to TS and also maintain close liaison with Embassy of India in these countries and offices of Counsel General and keep them in the loop.
Thrust Teams
Group I - China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and other East Asian Countries
Group II - Canada, Mexico and the West (France, Germany and other countries in the Region)
Group III - Israel and the Gulf
Officers of Thrust Teams will be in touch with the office of Commissioner of Industries and Industries Secretary. The commissioner of industries will take necessary action for identifying the constitution of country desk teams and officers in consultation with the government.
