HYDERABAD: Rewarding IT and Panchayat Raj minister K T Rama Rao for leading the pink party to a thumping victory in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has entrusted him with the most important Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) ministry.
The MA&UD department was under the Chief Minister till now.
During the GHMC election campaign, KCR had announced that KTR would be made the MA&UD minister as he toured the entire Greater Hyderabad city and interacted with the people to understand their problems.
Two days after the TRS clinched an astounding victory, the CM announced his decision to handover the ministry to his son.
The issue reportedly came for discussion in the Cabinet meeting on Sunday afternoon and with the cabinet giving its consent, orders were issued by the GAD department allocating the MA&UD portfolio to KTR.
KCR was of the view that KTR knows the expectations of the people with regard to development of Greater Hyderabad and he can chalk out projects and schemes so that the people’s aspirations can be met.
Party leaders said that KTR got the fruit of his labour for leading the party to a landslide victory in GHMC elections and it is a step towards his elevation within the administration and also party.
