BHUPALPALLY (WARANGAL):  Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has reiterated his government’s commitment to ensure nine-hour power supply to farmers during day time from the ensuing Kharif season.

He has also declared that power will be supplied round the clock in the state from 2018. The chief minister dedicated the 600-MW  Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant (KTPP) Stage- II at Chelpur near here on Tuesday to the nation. This is the first plant completed after the formation of the Telangana and the cost of the project is  `4,334 crore.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, KCR showered several sops on the Bhupalpally Assembly constituency which is represented by Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.

The sops include establishment of a state police battalion at Gandhinagar, a polytechnic college, a post-graduate centre of Kakatiya University and 2,000 additional double bedroom houses (DBHs).

Thanking the people of Warangal district for their unstinting support to the TRS government, he said he would unveil some more development projects for development of the district on Wednesday after conducting a review meeting with officials.

Referring to the steps being taken to irrigate the lands in the district, he said  laying of a pipeline from Devadula lift irrigation project on the Godavari to the Rammappa lake had been completed. “By digging up two canals from the Ramappa lake, one to each to Ghanapuram and Laknavaram tank,  we can fill those tanks.  And you can cultivate two crops, if not three, in a year under these tanks.”

Rao also said that he had come to lay the foundation for the Bheemghanpur lift irrigation project.

Stating that the work on increasing the capacity of Kakatiya canal to 8,000 cusecs at a cost of Rs 130 crore are going on, he asked the irrigation officials to take steps for modernising the entire distribution network under the Kakatiya canal in Warangal district before the arrival of monsoon.

Speaking on the development of irrigation facilities, he said the government had  conceived an irrigation plan and would allocate Rs 25,000 crore to the irrigation sector every year. Construction of Kaleswaram project would lead to more lands in the district coming under irrigation.

Rao also announced that the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme would be extended to all ration card holders from March this year. He said the services of contract junior linemen (CJM) would be regularised and the salaries of outsourcing employees of  electricity department would be raised.

Deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, energy minister G Jagadish Reddy, Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, TSGenco and Transco chairman and MD D Prabhakar Rao and director (projects) C Radhakrishna were present.
