HYDERABAD: To equip government employees with knowledge about Telangana’s history, culture, society, polity and economy, the sub-committee of the board of governors of Dr MCR HRD Institute on Tuesday considered a proposal for setting up a centre for Telangana studies at the institute.
The sub-committee met on the institute’s campus on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by finance minister Etela Rajender.
Noting that Dr MCRHRD Institute evolved as an institute of national repute, Rajender said it should eventually aim to become a self-sustaining organisation.
The committee reviewed the institute’s progress, its financial position, efforts to improve training infrastructure and various eco-responsible initiatives. Administrative approvals for proposals relating to augmentation of facilities at the institute were accorded.
Vinod Kumar Agrawal, director-general of the institute, said the sub-committee was meeting after a lapse of six years and it was the first meeting after the formation of Telangana.
Ayurvedic clinic inaugurated
The meeting was followed by the inauguration of a fully-equipped Ayurvedic Clinic on the premises of the institute. “There is a need for wider awareness among people about Ayurveda which is a proven system to cure a number of chronic diseases,” Rajender said.
Agrawal said participants in training programmes, institute staff and people residing in adjoining areas can avail the facility.
In addition to giving treatment, the clinic would also provide body massage, head massage and steam bath, said KSAC Hospital director Dr Saji d’Souza.
