KARIMNAGAR:  Festivities for Pedda Hanuman Jayanti, which will be celebrated on May 31, began at Lord Hanuman temple in Kondagattu on Sunday.

Temple authorities have made all arrangements to facilitate a hassle-free darshan for the devotees.

Shamiyanas have been erected due to extreme heat and temporary toilets have been constructed. Every year, devotees pour in from Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Medak districts on May 31st when Pedda Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated.

According to tradition, which has been followed for decades, devotees of Lord Hanuman observe deeksha for 39 days and walk barefoot to the temple to offer prayers.

Authorities are expecting  nearly one lakh devotees. To meet the demand of drinking water, authorities have engaged private water tankers. Business establishments however are making a quick buck by selling bottled water above the MRP.
