ADILABAD: As Adilabad district is set for a trifurcation, the truncated Adilabad district sector of the State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is expected to incur a whopping daily revenue loss of Rs 5 lakh on an average vis-a-vis the sectors of Mancherial and Nirmal districts.

According to the records, the RTC depots at Nirmal, Bhainsa, Mancherial and Asifabad earned over Rs 23 lakh per day while transporting as many as one lakh passengers in Nirmal and Mancherial districts. However, Adilabad and Utnoor depots earned Rs 17.75

lakh per day while transporting over 78,000 passengers.

On condition of anonymity, a senior official of RTC said, “After Mancherial and Nirmal districts come into existence, the revenue of Adilabad district RTC will decline by half. With the district encompassing a vast area of tribal habitations, the Palle Velugu bus service will receive a big dent in revenue.”

There are six depots in the undivided district, earning an average income of Rs 65 lakh a day from transporting 2.80 lakh  passengers. TSRTC chairman Somarapu Satyanarayana said that the divisional manager would be in charge of RTC’s operations in the three new districts.
