HYDERABAD: While refusing to suspend the seizure of Arunodaya Cultural Federation office at Domalguda in the city, the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana home department to file counter-affidavit on a plea by Bandaru Vimala alias Vimalakka of Telangana United Front (TUF), seeking directions to the police to allow her to function at the office.

Justice Raja Elango was dealing with a writ petition filed by Vimalakka challenging the action of Kamareddy police with the help of Hyderabad police in seizing the office and residence of the petitioner’s organisation at Arvind Nagar in Domalaguda area of the city on Dec 2.
Petitioner’s counsel V Raghunath urged the court to declare the action of the police as illegal and direct the police to allow the petitioner to function at the office. After hearing the submissions, the judge sought the response from the government counsel for Home on the issue by Dec 16.

In reply, the government counsel submitted that the petitioner’s premises was searched based on information given by a former member of Jana Shakti, allegedly an extremist outfit, and that the investigation is still in progress. The judge then asked the state counsel to file a counter affidavit by Dec 16 .
