HYDERABAD: A six-year-old Sai Pravalika was almost  pushed into the jaws of death at Gandhi hospital here on Thursday.  Undergoing treatment for neurological problems at the pediatric ward in the hospital, Sai Pravalika’s condition worsened in the morning. The staff told her parents that she needs to be put on ventilator support.

On Thursday morning, Bhikshapati was informed by the the duty staff that his daughter’s condition had worsened and she needs ventilator support.

Panic-struck Bhikshapathi rushed to the ward and to his shock, found a saline bottle, containing some particulate matter on the bed.   When he questioned about it, the nursing staff and the doctors tried to convince him saying that Pravalika’s condition  was critical. They also added that the saline has nothing to do with her condition.

“I noticed something in the IV-fluid bottle. Unfortunately, they did not check it before administering it to my daughter. When one of the staffers tried to take it away, I snatched it from their hands and complained to the hospital superintendent. My daughter was healthy till 7.30 am. Her condition deteriorated only after they administered the saline,” Bhikshapathi said.

“We want the hospital superintendent to take action against the staff members responsible and also company that sold the contaminated saline bottle,” he demanded.
