Now, Anantagiri oustees seek aid under LA Act

KARIMNAGAR : Inspired by the agitation launched by residents of 14 villages in Medak district, against Mallanna Sagar project, villagers who are being evicted for Anantagiri Project in Ellanthakunta mandal are planning to launch an agitation demanding fair compensation for their lands.

The villagers are demanding compensation according to the Land Acquisition Act 2013, instead of GO 123, issued by the state government.

The proposed Anantagiri project is located between Karimangar and Medak districts and would be linked with Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme. The 3.5 tmc feet project will submerge Anantagiri village in Karimnagar district and Kochaguttapalli and Chelukaluripalli villages in Medak district.

Villagers say that a survey is underway for land acquisition in Siddipet. But the authorities have not conducted any survey to assess the submergence of land in their villages.

Once the project is constructed, Anantagiri village will disappear, lamented Rajaiah, a farmer.

If the government goes ahead with its decision to acquire land as against the wishes of Anantagiri villagers, we will not allow any officer or any leader of the ruling party to enter the village, warned a villager.
