Vikram Goud arrested, sent to 14-day judicial custody

HYDERABAD: A day after the Hyderabad police announced the arrest of five persons in connection with an attempt to murder former minister M Mukesh Goud’s son Vikram Goud, a case in which Vikram himself is the prime accused, police on Thursday arrested Vikram Goud who was undergoing treatment after being shot at on July 28. Vikram Goud was remanded to 14-day judicial custody by the court. Later, the police shifted him to Chanchalguda Central prison. Based on court directions, the jail officials would provide medical assistance to Vikram in prison. 

The Banjara Hills police, who are investigating the case, arrived at the hospital when Goud was being discharged in the afternoon. Minutes after Vikram was discharged from the hospital, police arrested him and informed the family members.

Later, he was shifted to Osmania General hospital for medical examination and was produced before the court. A 33-year-old Vikram Goud, who wanted to contest in the general elections, had allegedly hired a gang by offering Rs 50 lakh supari and also paid an advance of Rs 5 lakh to fire  at him. 

Meanwhile, Vikram Goud’s counsel filed a petition seeking bail citing health reasons.

It is reported that the prison  officials have formed a team of doctors to provide proper treatment to Vikram, who sustained two bullet injuries on July 28. The police have intensified their efforts to nab the other two persons who are still at large in connection with the offence.
