Hindus resort to Gau raksha due to government's failure: Vishwa Hindu Parishad president

Speaking on the issue of building Ram temple in Ayodhya, Togadia said that a legislation should be passed in the Parliament for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

HYDERABAD: Defending the activities of ‘Gau Rakshaks’ across the country, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international working president Praveen Togadia on Sunday said that it is due to the failure of the state government in the country in upholding law on cow slaughter prohibition that Hindus are taking up gau raksha (cow protection). Togadia said that Gau Rakshaks are actually upholding the laws by preventing slaughtering of cows, which is illegal in most states.

He was speaking at the Bajrang Dal Adhiveshan held in Hyderabad after the three-day-long meeting of Bajrang Dal leaders from Telangana and other states held in city. Giving rise to passions which were already running high, Togadia said that when cows are slaughtered by Muslims, Hindus are being blamed and cases are being booked against them for gau raksha.

Killing of cows (gau hatya) is illegal and Hindus have a right to call gau hatya a crime, Togadia said and added, “If it is ensured that not a single cow is slaughtered, then Hindus will not have to take law in their hands.”

Speaking on the issue of building Ram temple in Ayodhya, Togadia said that a legislation should be passed in the Parliament for construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, which he said is the only way to make the temple a reality. Once the Parliament passes such a legislation, then the temple can be built in a matter of a few months, he added.

Praising former Congress leader and Union Home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Togadia said that inspiration has to be taken from Patel and the way he ensured that Somnath Temple is rebuilt in Gujarat.
Togadia said that if the matter is left to courts, then Ram temple will not become a reality even in next 50 years.

The VHP leader also said that courts cannot decide what faith Hindus in the country can have as the Hindus believe that the disputed site in Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram.
Togadia also demanded that the government set up a body for Hindu youth on the lines of National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation.
Government should take the route of guns and bombs to quell the protesters in Kashmir who resort to stone pelting against security forces and waive Pakistani flags, the VHP international working president said.
