Public hearing on Kaleshwaram project held in three districts

Hearing held in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts.

YADADRI BHUVANAGIRI / KARIMNAGAR / NIZAMABAD : In a step towards the starting of proposed Kaleshwaram project, the public hearing for environmental clearance was started in three districts of state. In Yadadri, the public hearing was held for the Gandhamalla, Bhaswapur and surrounding villagers to give their opinion. However, Gandhamalla villagers boycotted the public hearing as their demand that the hearing be held at their village went unheeded. Bhaswapur villagers attended the public hearing and tried to stall it by raising slogans against Kaleshwaram project. Speaking to media, Bhaswapur villagers alleged that some TRS party leaders mobilised party workers from various mandals to attend the hearing. “We tried to oppose the hearing but other mandal villagers supported project construction,” they said.

TRS leaders from other mandals spoke at the meeting and supported the project. Gandhamalla villagers said they are not against the project but want the capacity of the Gandhamalla and Bhaswapur reservoirs to be reduced so that their agriculture lands do not submerge. They also opined that the government is planning to get all clearances without announcement of compensation.

Hearing goes off peacefully in Karimnagar 
Pubic hearing was held for Package 8 of Kaleshwaram Project tunnels and pipelines passing through Ramadugu and Choppadandi mandals. Except three persons, others supported the ongoing Kaleshwaram project. MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, B Shobha, Rasamai Balakishan, ZP Chairperson Tula Uma and MLC Naradasu expressed their view over project requirement. They said people were eagerly awaiting for project water. 

Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed acted as chairman for committee and invited farmers and various organisations to express their opinion and objections over project construction. Telangana Rythu Sangam President Varna Venkat Reddy ridiculed that government was conducting environment public hearing after completing 50 pc of project works.Raghuveer, an Annaram barrage outstee and another person Shasibushan Katche belonged Manthani in Peddapalli district wanted government to think of proper compensation for oustees and consider environmental problems also while taking up project works.

Villagers demand compensation, rehabilitation in Nizamabad

District incharge collector A Ravindar Reddy conduced public hearing process. Under supervision of ACP D Anand Kumar police made security arrangements in Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium. Elected representatives urged people of submergence villages to sacrifice their lands for improving irrigation facility in the district. They assured them that they would ensure compensation.Villagers and farmers opined that special compensation package should be provided to the effected people and government should also provide job to one member of family as part of acceptable rehabilitation.

Officials make arrangements for public hearing in Medak
Sangareddy:
The officials have made arrangement for gathering public opinion in three areas in the united Medak district at Narayankhed in Sangareddy district on Wednesday, Medak district headquarters on Thursday and Siddipet district headquarters on Saturday. The programme is being held by Pollution Control Board officials.  The government prepared a plan to provide irrigation water to 35,772 acres in Sangareddy district under package 19 from Kaleshwaram project. It is planning to divert water into Singur project in Sangareddy district and from there to tanks and lakes for irrigation purpose. Canals are designed to provide water in Hathnoora, Andole, Kalher, Narayankhed areas in Sangareddy district and Narsapur area in Medak district.
