State to erect four bronze statues of Dr C Narayana Reddy

A memorial will also be built in the heart of the city where a meeting hall will also be built for holding literary activities. Besides, the government will name a prominent institution after him

HYDERABAD: The state government will erect four bronze statues of Dr C Narayana Reddy, doyen of Telugu literature, who died here on Monday.The statues will come up on the Tank Bund in Hyderabad, in Karimnagar, at the Rajanna Siricilla district headquarters and at Hanmajipet, the poet’s native village.

A memorial will also be built in the heart of the city where a meeting hall will also be built for holding literary activities. Besides, the government will name a prominent institution after him.


Reddy’s last rites will be performed at Maha Prasthanam in Filmnagar in the city on Wednesday. For the convenience of general public the mortal remains will be kept at Saraswatha Parishad Hall at Boggulakunta in Abids from 9 am to 10 am. 


From there the cortege will be taken to Maha Prasthanam in Prashashan Nagar. The chief minister will also attend the final rites. CM KCR made these announcements on Tuesday after visiting Reddy’s residence where he placed a wreath on the body in homage.  


Speaking to reporters later, Rao said CiNaRe was a personality the state was proud of. “I am conveying my sorrow and pain at the demise of Dr Narayana Reddy,” Rao said. 
 

Transport arrangements

The government will arrange transportation for CiNaRe’s fans, relatives and family members to enable them to pay their last tributes to the departed soul. “For those who wish to attend the the final rites, buses will be arranged from other parts of state and we will transport them back safely,” the chief minister said.
